Hampshire Archives Trust is run entirely by volunteers. There are many worthwhile opportunities for people with an interest to help in a variety of areas, including membership liaison and support, events organisation and fundraising, the website and publishing. It is a rewarding area to work in and a lot of fun!

Volunteering opportunities – membership

A membership assistant is required to help administer the Trust’s list of members and associated activities. Ideally Winchester-based, as the post arrives at Hampshire Record Office! Basic computer skills would be useful, and there will be an opportunity to learn new ones. A friendly welcome is guaranteed and an interesting job for the right person. Please contact Charlotte at:

Volunteering opportunities – website

We are seeking an editor for our recently launched website.

This is an opportunity to volunteer to join a friendly and enthusiastic team at a time of active development. The post involves providing information and images for the website developer to update and refresh the website with news and other material. It can be collected – mainly on the telephone and by email – from the Hampshire local history and archives community.

Some basic computer skills and interviewing experience would be helpful, but there is training and much advice and support available. The work can be done anywhere where there is a router, at times to suit, probably amounting to about one day a week.

Please contact Barry Shurlock at barryshurlock@gmail.com  for more details and a preliminary chat.
