Grant to New Milton Town Council - New Milton Heritage Centre

New Milton Town Council are planning to convert the derelict old Station Master’s House into a heritage centre, and applied to HAT for funding for display cases and AV equipment for an exhibition within it.

The project aims to record, display and maintain locally sourced artefacts including books, documents, maps, guides and pictures all relating to New Milton at a town centre location.

New Milton library will provide items for display which will remain permanently at the site, while St Barbe Museum in Lymington and Red House Museum in Christchurch have agreed to loan artefacts for display on a renewable basis.

Voices from the past  will be recorded, capturing first hand memories from the New Milton residents for visitors to listen to on a pre-recorded system. The artefacts will be displayed in lockable cabinets with LED light for members of the public to learn and enjoy the history of the town.
